Rwanda is blessed with a perfect combination of conditions for growing coffee. In Nyamasheke, from where this coffee originates, 800 smallholder farmers are able to grow their crops in rich volcanic soil, and benefit from regular rainfall.
Gitwe washing station is relatively new, and the coffees there are grown at high altitude (1,800masl), leading to bags of complexity and sweetness.
There are so many different flavours to be experienced here: we’ve picked up on buttery shortbread, green grapes, apricots, and much more. Ultimately, there’s a marmalade-like sticky sweetness, and the rich balanced notes of plump dates. Truly a great coffee to cosy up with as the year draws to a close.

Notes from the team:
Around the end of October, the coffee world gives us an early Christmas present, in the arrival of the first Rwandan harvests.
Gitwe is a stunning way to kick off the end of the year, and we'll be taking comfort from the date-like sweetness and juicy body of this coffee as the days get shorter and colder.
